Chain-of-Custody & Compliance

A certification you cannot evidence is a certification you do not have. Certifications carry automatically from item to purchase order to receipt to lot to sales order, so every tag you sell keeps its own documented history.

The Certifications That Travel With Your Material

Three families of certification matter to a wood products importer, and the system carries all three on the same record structure rather than in separate files.

Chain of Custody

FSC and PEFC chain-of-custody status held against the item and carried through every transaction that touches it.

Formaldehyde

CARB and EPA TSCA Title VI compliance recorded where the auditor will look for it, against the specific lot.

Structural Standards

Structural standard certifications held alongside the others, so a single record answers the whole compliance question.

Carried Automatically, Not Re-Keyed

The chain runs item to purchase order to receipt to lot to sales order. Nobody re-enters a certification at any step, which means nobody can forget to — and every tag you sell retains the certifications of the material it actually came from, not the certifications of the item in general.

That distinction is the whole point. When two receipts of the same item have different certification status, an averaged or item-level record cannot tell you which one went to which customer. A tag-level record can.

Supporting Lacey Act Documentation

Because country of origin, supplier, receipt and certification all sit on the same connected records, the documentation trail a Lacey Act declaration depends on is a query rather than a reconstruction. The information was captured as the material moved, not assembled afterwards from memory and email.

This page describes how the system records and carries certification data. It is not legal advice on your compliance obligations — your own compliance program and counsel determine what you must file and retain.

Certifications attach to the tags created in tally and tag-level inventory, and originate with the supplier and country-of-origin data captured in import and container logistics. Back to Wood Products & Building Materials
